9-Day Imperial Cities Loop from Marrakech

Overview

A full journey north from Marrakech: the Sahara, Fes, the blue city, Tangier, Asilah and Rabat, ending in Casablanca.

Itinerary

1. Day 1

   Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate

   High Atlas crossing, Ait Ben Haddou in the afternoon light and the Atlas film studios. Night in Ouarzazate.

2. Day 2

   Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades

   The Skoura palm grove, Kelaat M'Gouna and the Valley of Roses, then the Dades gorges.

3. Day 3

   Dades – Todra Gorge – Merzouga

   Walk in the Todra Gorge, then Erfoud and Merzouga. Sunset camel ride into Erg Chebbi and night in camp.

4. Day 4

   Merzouga – Ifrane – Fes

   Sunrise on the dunes, then north through the Ziz Valley, the Middle Atlas cedars and Ifrane to Fes.

5. Day 5

   Fes

   Guided visit of the Fes el Bali medina: the Chouara tanneries, the Bou Inania madrasa, the Al Quaraouiyine area and the royal palace gates.

6. Day 6

   Fes – Chefchaouen

   Drive into the Rif mountains to Chefchaouen. Afternoon in the blue streets.

7. Day 7

   Chefchaouen – Tetouan – Tangier

   The white medina of Tetouan, then Tangier: Cap Spartel and the Caves of Hercules.

8. Day 8

   Tangier – Asilah – Rabat

   The painted walls of Asilah on the Atlantic, then Rabat's Kasbah of the Udayas and the Hassan Tower.

9. Day 9

   Rabat – Casablanca

   Drive to Casablanca, visit the Hassan II Mosque, then drop-off at your hotel or the airport. End of the tour.
